What is a trope bingo?
A trope bingo is a common type of fandom challenge in which you will receive a bingo card where the squares are filled with tropes. In order to fill the squares, you must create fanworks containing those tropes! Much like regular bingo, you can “win” by completing a pattern. What is the Seongjoong Trope Bingo?
This is a low-stress, self-led multimedia fanwork challenge focused on ATEEZ’s Seonghwa and Hongjoong. Participants will interpret the tropes on their cards to create new, original fanworks centered on the pairing.

3. Try to get a BINGO!
IMPORTANT POINTS!
Fanfiction fills must be a minimum of 200 words.
Posts about the bingo on Twitter (card shares, progress updates, etc.) can be made with the hashtag #sjbingo!
Written fills are highly recommended to be posted on AO3. AO3 works should be posted to the collection. If the work is on Twitter only, please tag @seongjoongbingo!
Art/multimedia fills may be posted on any website, as long as they can be linked and viewed.
Each time you complete a fill, tweet a link to your work and tag our account @seongjoongbingo, so we can promote it! It’s also helpful to mention what tropes you’re filling in the caption.
When you’re done with your card, REMEMBER TO SUBMIT THE FINISHED CARDS FORM. Your points will not be totaled until you submit this form!
All fills must be NEW. This means that they have never been posted anywhere before (no recycling!). That said, you are allowed to use works that you’re creating for other fests, provided they are new and the other fests allow it.
As this is a Twitter-based challenge, your points will be tracked with your Twitter username, unless you specify on the card sign-up that you don’t have one. Please let me know of any changes right away (changed @, moved accounts, etc.).

THE BASICS
How do bingo cards work?
Each bingo card has a random assortment of 24 tropes on it with one free space (any trope of your choice from the list that is not elsewhere on your card). How do I “fill” squares?
You can fill squares by creating works centering Hongjoong and Seonghwa inspired by tropes on your card. You may fill a single square or multiple squares with a single work. Get creative! Is there a limit on how many squares I can fill per work?
Nope! The sky is the limit, and in fact, the participant who fills the most squares with a single work will get a +5 points bonus at the end of the challenge (a competitive edge!).What are the minimum fill requirements?
Fiction fills must be at least 200 words. Any other type of fill will be acceptable as long as the tropes are expressed clearly. What types of fanworks are allowed?
This is a multimedia fest, which means that we will accept long-form fiction (AO3), short-form fiction (Twitter drabbles, threadfics, and scenefics), poetry, illustration, social media AUs, playlists/mixes, digital and video edits, etc. Basically, almost anything goes as long as it’s new, original, and focused on Seongjoong. When, How, and Where do I post?
You can post any time during the challenge’s duration!
AO3 authors should post to our AO3 collection.
If your fic is on Twitter, please tag our Twitter account @seongjoongbingo.
If you have a multimedia fill, simply tweet an image or link to it and tag us in the tweet.
When you’re finished with a card, fill out the Finished Cards Form. If you want a new card, fill out another Card Request Form.
CONTENT RULES
I’m a minor. Can I participate?
This challenge is open to everyone. Minors are allowed to participate, but will not be given any NSFW/explicit tropes on their cards. Please be truthful about your age.How should I upload my work if it contains explicit content?
For written works on AO3, nothing special is required aside from proper tagging. If your work is on Twitter (drabble, social media AU, fanart, etc.) or you are promoting it on Twitter, please post it with some indication that it contains adult content and use Twitter’s “content warning” feature if it contains any explicit images (click the paintbrush icon in the corner of the image, then hit the flag icon on the bottom toolbar). Can I make platonic content?
Yes! This challenge accepts both SFW and NSFW content. In that spirit, we also accept any content focused on Seonghwa and Hongjoong’s relationship. The nature of this relationship is up to you—they can be friends, lovers, mortal enemies—anything you want, as long as the work is focused on them.Is there any content that is not allowed?
The short answer is no. However, everything must be properly tagged. The following is our policy on warnings:
We are dedicated to inclusiveness, and part of that is community-wide, required warnings for all submitted works, posts, and comments. This is not optional or up for discussion. You will receive one warning and a chance to edit or delete the material in dispute before you will be disqualified from the challenge.
The list of mandatory warnings includes but is not limited to: rape/non-con, dub-con, incest, character death, suicide, self-harm, graphic violence, sexual content with underage characters (defined for this challenge as characters under 18 years of age), eating disorders, addiction, abuse (including child and domestic).
The mods reserve the right to require more warnings should the need arise. Also, please do not feel limited by this selection of warnings; more detailed and nuanced warnings will always be appreciated by your mods and your potential readers. If you have questions regarding whether your work requires warnings, feel free to contact us and ask.
BINGO SPECIFICS
How do I “BINGO?”
When you’ve completed at least one bingo pattern or any 3 squares on your card, you may fill out the Finished Cards Form. Your points are only counted whenever you do this. Can I get multiple bingo cards?
Yes, though you cannot get another card until you submit your current card with either a complete bingo pattern or at least 3 random squares filled. Once you submit a card through the Finished Cards Form, you will no longer be able to use it. To keep playing, you must fill out another Card Request Form. Your new card will not contain any of the same tropes. You are also allowed one (1) card discard per challenge round. If you choose to trash your card and get a replacement, you will forfeit any points you may have earned from that card. How many cards can I play on at once?
ONE. Playing on multiple cards simultaneously is not allowed. Once a card is submitted through the Finished Cards Form, it becomes points-locked and unusable. After you submit a bingo on your finished card through the Finished Cards Form, if you want to keep playing, you will fill out another card request form and continue playing on your NEW card. How are points calculated?
Each trope category active on your card: +2 points (minus NSFW, for fairness. All 5 categories active = 8 points)
Each square: +1 point
5-square pattern (rows, columns, and diagonals): +10 points
9-square pattern (X, cross, or 3x3): +20 points
Border bingo: +40 points
Blackout: +80 points
These point types do not stack within single bingo patterns. For instance, if you fill out 5 random squares and submit your card like that, you will earn 5 points. If you submit a card with a filled row, you will get 10 points, not 15.You may continue filling squares on your card after achieving a bingo pattern but before submitting it if you want to use more tropes on it, but only one bingo pattern per card can be counted (the rest of the squares will be counted as singles, +1 each). Ambiguously filled cards will be calculated to maximize your points. What are bingo patterns? HELP!
Fear not! See this thread for a guide on our accepted bingo patterns.I opted out of $trope on my card request form, but $trope is on my card! What do I do?
If we make an error on your card and mistakenly give you a trope you opted out of, please don’t hesitate to DM or email us and let us know. We will swap out the square at no penalty to you or your points, but we prefer that you reach out for fixes before you start playing with the card. What do I get for my points?
Fame! Glory!! …Nah, really, just bragging rights and the satisfaction that you’ve made content that other Seongjoong fans will enjoy. Though, we 100% encourage a sense of friendly competition and will announce the top point-winners at the end of the challenge, as well as the participant who filled the most tropes per single work.My question isn’t answered here. How do I contact you?
All respectful/sensible Retrospring questions will be answered and featured on Twitter. You can also DM the @seongjoongbingo Twitter or send me an email if you want your question answered privately.
